A balancing act

Description:

I have photographed this heron at Oak Bank Mill pond for about 10 years. I have never seen it with a mate. I saw it chase off another heron that appeared to be passing by about a month ago. Last week I saw him carrying this branch. He disappeared eastwards over the fields by Harrop brook. Is he making a nest (wrong time, no mate!)
