Tried a much softer treatment here (these are the in-camera JPG’s) – when looking at the RAW file output I was so tempted to tweak them and increase the contrast – but I’ve kept the camera’s settings and these are the straight out of camera JPG’s.

The deer at Tatton and Dunham Massey parks have been rutting since early October and Tatton has given me the best opportunities to capture the stags’ bellowing and sparring. The Red Deer stags put on a great show of bellowing, rounding up groups of hinds, and generally showing-off their machismo. Their sparring however has been occasional…

For those who were unable to attend our last meeting, I played a video from Thomasz Trzebiatowski following my conversations with him about combining our Photowalks and his brand of Slow Photography. I have embedded it in my blog, so please take a look – it makes fascinating viewing!

In today’s fast-moving world, slow photography invites us to pause. It’s not about chasing the perfect shot—it’s just about being present. Observing rather than glancing.

Finally got to visit this place which has been on my radar for years. Trees still mostly a week or two off being peak autumn colour but wow I spent 2.5hrs taking shot after shot and had one of my best photography days ever (until i lost my CPL 😒). Some marmite shots included, used shutter speeds of 1/4sec and 20 seconds for the silky ones.

I’ve been experimenting with low-key images at Oak-Bank Mill pond. From Willowbank drive the dark water and opposite bank in shadow in the early morning make it ideal for trying this technique. Here are a few examples. Just set your exposure compensation (dial usually close to your righty thumb) to minus three and shoot the grey heron…

These initial photos will have been taken on a Samsung A 34 and apart from a wee bit of auto correct for light/colour/contrast and a bit of clipping, they are how I see the world in pictures.
These were taken in the Bay of Biscay, there was a flock of Seagulls dancing around the ship. The only light was from the lights at the bottom if the… Read more -
